Chuck-A-Burger Celebrates 50 years with SH-Boom Concert

Cruising through Chuck-A-Burger is like driving down Memory Lane . The Cruisin’ Era of the late 50’s lives on at one the country’s last original hamburger havens. On May 18th, when customized vintage Chevy's and Fords roll in, time falls back five decades. The innocent “American Graffiti” atmosphere will live again with the rumble of the finely-tuned engines keeping cadence with Sh-Boom. Preserving a distinctly American tradition, waitresses in poodle skirts will serve shakes and burgers to patrons before a backdrop of sleek machines boasting shiny metal and flashing chrome. On this night, a crowd of more than 1,000 is expected to soak in the atmosphere while listening to oldies and reminiscing about the carefree era.
Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chuck-A-Burger with a free Sh-Boom concert at their newest location in St. Charles on May 18th.

Sh-Bits and Sh-Blunders

Sh-Boom gossip and gab...and other observations
by Heartthrob Rob

Sh-Boom holds on to the title of “Longest Continually Active Junior College Students”. The band, who essentially formed at St. Louis Community College at Meramec in the early 80’s, returned to the campus in January to perform for Dr. Lynn Suydam’s retirement party. Dr. Suydam served as President of the institute for many years and was instrumental in establishing Sh-Boom as the first inductees to the Meramec campus “Walk of Fame”. In other words, he is a man of impeccable taste.
The night of Dr. Suydam’s retirement party was memorable as the same night that two abducted boys were found at a Kirkwood , MO apartment complex. The event, and ensuing media frenzy, focused national attention on the area. The apartment complex where the boys were found is just minutes from the Meramec campus.
On a note of irony, Sh-Boom performed a benefit dance for Eureka Search and Rescue’s Equestrian Team just a few weeks after the Missouri teens were found. The Search and Rescue team does great work throughout the metro area in finding missing persons. Sh-Boom’s long time friend and technical consultant, Steve Welton, coordinates communications for the rescue team. The Sh-Boom band members came close to asking the rescue team for help in getting home after the show. You see, a snow storm developed while the band was performing at the Pacific Eagles Club, making the drive home quite treacherous.
Sh-Boom was joined on stage at the Renaissance Grand Hotel by an awesome Tina Turner impersonator and, the same night, by the one and only Steve Davis as Elvis Presley. The band was performing for a corporate event hosted by the UniGroup. On a completely unrelated note of irony to anything else in this article, Steve Davis is, hands down, the craziest dude I’ve ever met – really thinks he’s Elvis you know. Oh well, as long as he doesn’t think he’s Colonel Parker I guess we’re all safe. We are, of course, kidding; Steve is a genuinely nice man and an incredible entertainer. We always enjoy the opportunity to work with him.
And finally, a fond farewell to our good friend Tony. We miss you, and Tony, “this Bud’s for you” my friend.

You Ain't Nothin But A Hound Dog

Sh-Boom to perform for Support Dogs Benefit

Support Dogs, Inc. is a St. Louis based non-profit agency that helps people with special needs achieve an improved quality of life through the use of assistance dogs. Utilizing the services of almost 300 volunteers, Support Dogs, Inc. provides service dogs to recipients nationwide, as well as pet-assisted therapy to thousands in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
On Saturday, May 5th, Sh-Boom will provide the entertainment for Support Dog's Annual Tacky Ball. This dinner, dance, and silent auction will be held at CBC High School in West St. Louis County (at I-64 and Mason Rd.). The event begins at 6:30 p.m.
The theme this year is "WET NOSES RUN FOR THE ROSES". It'll be the wackiest Kentucky Derby Party you’ll ever attend! Tickets are $99.99 per person and can be purchased by calling (314)997-2325.
