This year Sh-Boom will perform in the South Tent from 3:30-7:30 p.m. After Sh-Boom, the nationally
known band from Texas, Brave Combo, will entertain the crowd. Don't miss this day of outstanding
food and entertainment at the Kirchenfest (pronounced, "Kirk-in-fest").

Sh-Bits and Sh-Blunders

Sh-Boom gossip and gab...and other observations
by Heartthrob Rob

Several Sh-Boomers recently attended trivia nights in support of friends with ongoing medical
concerns. In honor of the trivia craze that seems so en vogue I’ve decided to present this edition of
Sh-Bits ‘n’ Sh-Blunders in trivia night format, so please surround yourself with a ridiculous array of
unhealthy snacks and read on. Humor me by looking slightly dumbfounded from time to time before
reading the answers as listed at the end.

Questions:

  1. What color bowling shirts did Sh-Boom purchase and wear for only two shows in March?
  2. What nearly happened at the Kemp Auto Museum to secure Sh-Boom’s ultimate demise?
  3. To what venue will the band return for New Years Eve 2008?
  4. What two band members recently performed a concert of Beatles music at John F. Kennedy High School?
  5. Whose daughter premiered with the band as a guest flautist?
  6. What is a flautist?
  7. How the heck did they ever derive “flautist” from that?
  8. Name the two Sh-Boomers who recently became grandfathers.
  9. Why was “Lectric Lamar forces to leave the show early last winter?
  10. What favorite St. Louis based band continues to celebrate 25 years of rockin’ the town in 2008?

If you are holding ticket number 9370427 please collect your attendance prize at the table near the double doors.
Thank you
.

Answers:

  1. The band departed from traditional pink to don green bowling shirts at a performance for the annual
St. Patrick’s Gala at the Hilton Ballpark Village.  The Gala boasted a virtual who’s who of famous Irish St.
    Louisians and Irish dignitaries.
  2. While loading equipment out of the Kemp Auto Museum for a private party, a heavy steel stage-lighting
standard, positioned upright against the wall at the time, fell missing by inches to hit a vintage and priceless Mercedes Benz!
  3. Sh-Boom is excited to announce a return to Tan-Tar-A for New Year’s Eve.  Make your reservations early.
  4. Heartthrob Rob joined Rockin’ Ronnie Roskowske to accompany the students at Kennedy High School for
a well received night of Beatles tunes.  Rockin’ Ron is the musical director at JFK.
  5. Bad Brad’s daughter, Laura James, performed a stellar flute solo on Color My World, a song requested for
one of the record setting three wedding receptions Sh-Boom will perform in 2008.
  6. A flautist is someone who plays the flute.
  7. Beats the heck out of me!
  8. Luca Tyler Green-O'Brien was born April 26th and is the third grandchild to (Drummer) Dennis & Susan Roussin.
Jack Dolan Colombo officially entered the Colombo family through adoption in April, the second grandchild to
(Stage Manager) Pete & Judy Colombo.
  9. Singer, “Lectric Lamar was forced to leave a job early for a hospital visit due to a rather severe cut to the
finger he received when slipping on a patch of ice in downtown St. Louis prior to a March show.  Now that the
72 stitches, steel plates, and traction devices have been removed (this according to Lamar) all is well.
  10. DON’T TELL ME YOU REALLY HAVE TO GUESS THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE!  Twenty-Five years, by the way, is the
“silver anniversary” just in case you wish to send gifts.
